About ECM

The History

The ECM is not an official JCI meeting/conference but none the less it has survived throughout the years with varying degrees of success. As it is not an official JCI event, the framework for the meeting is more relaxed and it is for the chapter that hosts the meeting to fill out the agenda with training, social events and whatever is deemed necessary.

The focus of the ECM is for members from capital chapters to meet and address problems that are normally found in capital cities. It could be environment, traffic, housing etc. – each host plans the ECM according to what is most relevant for their city.

As with all meetings where there are "Jaycees" the ECM is also a social event where you meet new and old friends from across Europe. We have parties, sightseeing and cultural events – all designed to create the right "JCI atmosphere".

How To Become a Host

The main requirement to become a host is naturally that the hosting chapter should be from a capital in Europe and that the ECM is held in one. Apart from that it is your energy and enthusiasm that will drive the project of hosting the ECM.

You could regarding the hosting of an ECM as a training session if you want to host an official JCI conference/congress – but be warned – the participants expects a lot so you should not do this without planning.

What you do is that you participate in the next ECM and advertise that you are a candidate to host the next ECM. The procedure is very informal and bidding is open for everyone.
