London is the capital city of United Kingdom and has been an important settlement for two millennia. It's the most populous city in the European Union and is one of the world's leading business, financial and cultural centres. It has a diverse population, with over 300 languages spoken.
London is situated on the River Thames in the South-East of England. It is a major transport hub, with numerous airports and rail links serving the city. London also has the world's oldest and largest metro system, the London Underground, forming the core of an extensive public transport system that also features buses, a tram, a light-railway, urban rail services and boat services.

London is an exciting city that is continuously growing, with many recent developments such as the high-speed rail terminal at St. Pancras and the new Wembley Stadium. Of course, the city is looking forward most to 2012 when it becomes the host of the Olympic Games.
